Backbase
Gujral joins from BPC with nearly 20 years of experience scaling commercial operations across Asia, as Backbase focuses on growth in the region.

Amsterdam, 15 October 2026 - Backbase announced today that it has appointed Nikhil Gujral as SVP Sales for APAC. Gujral will lead commercial operations across ANZ and Asia, and is based in Singapore.
The appointment supports Backbase's regional strategy as it scales the AI-native Banking OS it launched earlier this year. The AI-native Banking OS unifies the bank's frontline so customers, employees, and AI agents work as one across digital channels, front-office, and operations.
Gujral will lead that growth across ANZ and Asia. He joins from BPC, a global fintech company that builds and manages digital payment and banking infrastructure for financial institutions, neobanks, payment service providers (PSPs), transit systems, and governments, where he led commercial strategy and revenue operations across the fintech and digital banking sector in Asia-Pacific. Before that, he spent seven years at Temenos, where he built and led sales teams across South and Southeast Asia.
Backbase counts 120+ banks among its customers, and its footprint in Asia-Pacific is already firmly established with leading institutions, like Chinabank, East West Bank, OCB, MyState Bank, Judo Bank, Bank Muamalat and Vietnam's MSB, that recently went live with new enterprise banking apps built on the Backbase OS. Gujral's remit is the commercial side of that growth across ANZ and Asia.
"As agentic banking arrives, banks across the region are modernizing their digital channels, and they will choose partners who can help them navigate and scale that change. Those decisions are made between people who understand the market and a bank's leadership. Nikhil knows these markets deeply, and I believe he is the right person to guide bankers through this generational transition."
Jouk Pleiter, CEO and Founder of Backbase
"Right now, bankers in Asia-Pacific are deciding how to build on the trusted digital foundation modern banks rely on every day, while deploying agents that work alongside their employees. Banking OS was built to help banks unify their channels and scale agentic banking while staying in control. I want every bank leader in ANZ and Asia to see what that makes possible for their growth."
